The Covid-19 outbreak has unprecedented impact on the world as well as India. You name any aspect---health, economic, social, and that walk of life is affected. The outbreak is rising in an exponential manner. World is grappling with covid-19 outbreak resulting in a nationwide lock down in India and in many other countries. The outbreak is causing Mental Health issues for many, and people are finding it difficult to deal with the anxiety, uncertainty and are feeling depressed and vulnerable. The WHO has also recognized the impact of Covid-19 on mental health of people and at risk populations.
Cluster University of Jammu is offering online Mental Health Support to deal with the psychological impact of the Covid-19 outbreak. The Counseling service will be offered online through web-based counseling. Counseling center of the university shall host this service. The center, using WHO, APA, and other professional guidelines, has developed a Covid-19 counseling protocol. Tele Counseling is an amazing and worthwhile support system, particularly at the time of crises. Crises- Counseling is what’s needed in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
The updates and recommendations from the WHO and Center for disease control and prevention (CDC) are being closely monitored by our center to ensure that the safest and most appropriate actions are being taken care of by our task force team for the students, staff and the community.
Amid the Covid-19 crises supporting our student community, fraternity, Staff and the Community in general has become more important than ever. But as the cities and towns are in complete lockdown with people maintaining social distancing andare asked to stay home to slow the spreading speed of the virus. Many of us are grappling with how to be there for each other when we can’t be near each other.
Now more than ever, our communities need us to create change in ways that are both innovative and equitable. Setting up of working group to monitor and promote the mental health issues and concerns of students and to facilitate providing of support to address the mental health and psychosocial aspects during and after covid-19. A24x7 helpline will be manned by the resource pool of counselors. By establishing the crises counseling assistance services to the affected people and to their families our counseling center will help them regain control of their anxieties and effectively respond to the disaster.
